Roasting Guide Map
Roasting tutorials follow the working order: confirm inputs on the preparation page, finish manual roasts, turn good records into reusable profiles, then use auto replay and automation to reduce repeated operations.
For a first roast, start with First Roast Guide.
Recommended Reading Order
- Prepare Roasting: choose bean, batch size, environment data, reference profile, and roast mode.
- Manual Roasting: read the live curve, adjust controls, and mark key events.
- Roast Profiles: turn successful records into reusable reference curves or replay scripts.
- Auto Replay Roasting: replay recorded controls or follow a PID bean-temperature target.
- Control Replay Trigger: decide whether control actions trigger by time or by time plus temperature.
- Automation Rules: run reminders, event tags, or control actions during manual roasting.
- RoR Smoothing: tune RoR stability and responsiveness.
Manual, Auto Replay, and Automation
| Feature | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Manual Roasting | First roasts, new beans, new devices, new profiles | You operate the roaster; HiBean records, displays, and assists |
| Auto Replay Roasting | Reproducing an existing profile's control actions or target curve | Needs a reliable profile; physical bean drop is still manual |
| Automation Rules | Reducing repeated actions during manual roasting | Rules assist manual roasting; they are not the same as full auto replay |
