Auto Replay Roasting

Auto Replay Roasting uses the selected roast profile to send control commands or target BT values during a live roast. It reproduces the rhythm of an existing record; it does not replace safety monitoring and does not physically drop beans for you.

When Replay Starts

Auto replay does not take over immediately after Start Roasting. It starts after Charge.

  • With auto Charge detection enabled: replay starts after HiBean detects Charge and marks the event.
  • Without auto Charge detection: tap Charge manually after charging beans.

Two Replay Modes

Control Replay

Control Replay reads recorded control actions from the profile and performs them again during the roast, such as:

  • Power
  • Fan / Damper
  • Drum
  • Other device-supported controls

If the profile only has temperature curves and no recorded control actions, Control Replay has little or nothing to execute. A “no more scheduled control changes” reminder usually means you need a profile with recorded controls.

Control Replay can use Control Replay Trigger: By Time, or Time + Temperature.

Bean Temperature Tracking (PID)

Bean Temperature Tracking continuously sends target BT values to the device so it can follow the reference curve. The device must support PID control.

Drum roasters with strong thermal inertia may overshoot or follow poorly. If deviation becomes obvious, end auto replay and take over manually.

During Replay

  • Controls may be locked to avoid conflicts between automatic commands and manual actions.
  • Optional voice announces control changes, events, or reminders.
  • Optional auto tagging can mark Dry End, First Crack, Second Crack, and related events from the reference.
  • Smart reminders may warn near First Crack or target drop temperature.

If you need to intervene, end auto replay first, then continue manually.

Ending and Taking Over

You can end auto replay at any time. After that, HiBean stops sending automatic commands and you control the roast manually.

Natural ending depends on mode and profile data:

  • Control Replay: HiBean may finish when there are no remaining automatic actions, when the reference curve reaches its end, or when the configured/reference drop target is reached after the proper roast gate. It does not restore previous control values.
  • Bean Temperature Tracking (PID): when tracking finishes, HiBean ends automatic tracking and disables PID auto-heating.

Natural ending only means HiBean stops the automatic control, tagging, and reminder flow. It does not physically drop beans or complete cooling for you.

In both modes, physical bean drop and cooling still require on-site handling.

Before Using It

  • Choose a profile from the same or similar device.
  • Keep batch size, preheat, and environment close to the original record.
  • For Control Replay, confirm the profile has recorded control actions.
  • Prepare drop and cooling before the final phase.
  • If the curve deviates clearly, end auto replay and take over manually.
