ShaoJia - CR-500E

This page is written for HiBean users. It focuses on how to use CR-500E in the app and explains a few behaviors that might look “unexpected” at first.

Safety note: CR-500E is a high-temperature machine. Always follow the manufacturer’s safety guidance and never leave the machine unattended while it’s running.

Connection

  • Connection type: BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy)
  • Platforms: Android / iOS / macOS / Windows

In HiBean’s device discovery page, choose ShaoJia BLE and follow the pairing steps.

Drum / Fan / Heater Interlock (Important)

On CR-500E, some controls are interlocked. Remember this:

The drum must be running for fan and heating to take effect.

What you may notice:

  • If the drum is off, the app will treat the fan as off (even if a fan value is set).
  • Turning fan ON may automatically turn the drum ON (expected behavior).
  • Turning ignition/heating ON (including Preheat) may also automatically turn the drum ON.
  • Turning the fan OFF does not automatically turn the drum OFF.
  • Fan control is in 5% steps (hardware granularity).

CR-500E reports wind pressure feedback. HiBean provides Wind Pressure Balance to help keep airflow stable during roasting.

What it does

Set a Target Wind Pressure (Pa). The app will automatically fine-tune the damper to keep the measured wind pressure close to the target.

How to use

  1. In the roasting control panel, open Wind Pressure Balance / Target Wind Pressure.
  2. Set the target value.
  3. Enable the switch.

Notes (All expected)

  • If the fan is currently off, enabling the feature will first turn the fan on (and may start the drum).
  • Adjustments happen in 5% steps. Near the target, the app may reduce adjustments, so you may see “no movement” for a while.
  • The feature pauses when the drum stops, and resumes after the drum starts again.
  • For manual fan control, disable Wind Pressure Balance first (otherwise auto control will override manual tweaks).

Preheat

If you preheat before charging, use Preheat / PID Auto Heating in the app.

  • It heats towards your target temperature and can hold for a period.
  • When you start preheat, the app will perform necessary linked actions (for example, starting the drum and enabling ignition/heating).

After roasting, use Force Cooling:

  • Firmware automatically turns drum + fan ON and heating OFF until bean temperature drops to the target temperature.
  • Manual controls (heater/fan/drum) may be temporarily unavailable during the process.
  • Force cooling runs on the device side and can continue even if the app is closed; for safety, stay with the machine while it’s running.

Over-temperature Alarm

If an over-temperature alarm occurs, firmware will shut down heating and run cooling (drum/fan) to help reduce temperature.

Recommended steps:

  1. Stop operations and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Power off and let the machine cool down naturally.
  3. Make sure the exhaust/ventilation path is clear before powering on again.
  4. If the app still shows the alarm, tap Reset in the error dialog (if available for your device).
